Once inside you will literally feel like you’re walking on the ocean floor as the Lisbon Oceanarium is composed of five different aquarium tanks with a depth of almost 25 feet and the main tank has seamless windows floor to ‘ceiling’ totaling more than 2,000 sq. It is located at the end of a designed pier in an artificial lagoon that boasts of a modern-day look but feels right at home in its surroundings. No, I’m not standing at the bottom of the ocean, but it’s as close as you can get. All of this wonder seeming to be above me as I stand at the bottom of the ocean. The manta rays with their majestic underwater flight and and an octopus suddenly darting about and then descending gently to lie still on the ocean floor. The sharks with their deadly calm, that slow moving search but you know they can strike with incredible speed and power.
This is nothing like watching a nature show on television this is an awe-inspiring experience.
